Food gift sets with little hams and cheese’s to nibble on, Lotions and soaps? Fragrant incense and candles. For one reason or another this is how people put things together in categories. When it’s warm outside you probably won’t find yourself lighting many candles. As a candle consumer, I was constantly purchasing and it wasn’t always what I wanted. Of course I had a certain taste in candles and it was expensive. I’m talking about eighteen to twenty dollars per candle. And thus the beginning of my candle making adventures. My candle making started with my husbands desire to see how they are made and if they indeed needed to be as expensive as they where. Turns out they aren’t cheap to make if you do it right, but certainly fun and the best part is customizing each individual candle. My very first customers had a hard time conceiving the idea that they where the designers and I made whatever they desired. In fact a lot of my customers asked me to create something special for them. I needed minimal information, what colors they prefer, scents and dimensions. After gathering all the information I would be able to create a unique candle for the individual, not a mass produced product.

I’ve recently taken note of the selection of candles in a local grocery store; I was hoping to see some variety. Their was many different scents but all the candles where in containers. Aside from a few tarts their wasn’t much to choose from. It’s almost as if all anyone cares about is filling their rooms, homes and offices with a scent, which can sometimes be an overwhelming aroma.
